On our Way! Heading out in 2022!

Departing for our First Marine Debris Removal Mission of 2022!

July 2nd, 2022

TWICC cards and duffel bags. Crocs of all colors. Black coffee and a single white tern waft on salted air. Tearful goodbyes and forgotten essentials remembered too late. Too early on a bright July morning, the city of Honolulu waits on standby. But at the harbor, potential energy percolates, accumulates, scours for a course to go kinetic.

Thrum of anticipation. Drum of diesels. Spirits are high. Deck lines are cast. A voyage is underway.

ʻAu i ke kai me he manu ala.

To cross the sea as a bird.

Applied to a hill that juts out into the sea.

Upon crossing Ke Ala Polohiwa a Kāne we the crew of PMDP recieved by an inviting stillness in the air. After waking at four A.M we procceded to ask for permission, protection, and guidance on our journey ahead. As we traveled within Pō the realm of our kūpuna, we were greeted by Niuhi, Noio, and Mōlī. We saw many moku  that resembled hills jutting triumphantly out of the water. While traversing in a place with vast and powerful mana we could almost feel as though we were an Albatross migrating across the two realms. Ending our first day filled with eager and hope for the voyage ahead, we gave thanks for our safety and blessings granted to us. Mahalo e nā kūpuna nō kēia lā. Stay tuned fam!
