marine Debris Technician II
Hometown: Wilmington, Delaware
Current Residence: Kaimuki, Oʻahu, Hawaiʻi
Max was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina and raised in the coastal state of Delaware. After coming to Hawaiʻi in 2015, he studied Marine Biology at UH Mānoa, completed an internship with the NOAA Pacific Island Fisheries Science Center (PIFSC), and turned into a huge fish and algae geek. But aside from being elbow-deep in fish guts or cross-sectioning limu, Max has had experience working extensively on-board two NOAA research cruises, developing watermanship skills as a beach attendant (surfing, canoe surfing, snorkeling, free-diving, spear-fishing, SCUBA), and as previous crew member with PMDP (2022). Outside of the water, Max’s passions include training jiu jitsu, dog-training, and watching movies. It’s an honor to continue contributing to the shared kuleana of the 2024 PMDP team and find purposeful work in one of the world’s most sacred, pristine, and protected areas.
