Lauren Chamberlain

LEAD Marine Debris technician

Hometown: Charleston, South Carolina

Current Residence: Kailua, O’ahu

Lauren was raised by the ocean, diving and surfing (tiny baby waves). The beach she called home was littered daily with trash which led to a lifelong passion for marine debris. It was this passion that brought her to the Hawaiian Islands - in pursuit of cleaning up the place where otherʻs trash ends up. She’s been a resident of the east side of Oahu since 2016 and has dedicated that time to studying and working with marine debris in multiple capacities - in the lab, on the beach, and in the ocean. In 2019, Lauren obtained a Master’s in Marine Science at Hawaiʻi Pacific University where she researched plastic pollution in Papahānaumokuākea. Being a part of PMDP the past three years has been a huge honor for Lauren and she is stoked for the opportunity to go back!
